November 8 – Scientific Conference “Lithuanian Diaspora Studies: Broadening Horizons and Future Challenges”
During the conference, researchers from various fields will present studies on the history of diaspora culture, contemporary migration, and migration policies that have been conducted over the past three decades of Lithuania’s independence, as well as current research. They will discuss historiographical and methodological issues in diaspora studies and memory.
Exhibition “From Basement to Attic: 30 Years of the Institute of Lithuanian Diaspora”
From November 8 to November 30, an exhibition dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the Vytautas Magnus University Lithuanian Diaspora Institute will be open at the President Valdas Adamkus Library-Museum. The exhibit showcases the Institute’s work, including unique items from the heritage of Lithuanian diaspora, along with their stories.
Campaign “Gift Yourself a Book”
Throughout November, visitors can acquire books, collections of documents and articles, and issues of the journal Oikos: Lithuanian Migration and Diaspora Studies, all published by researchers from the Lithuanian Diaspora Institute, for a symbolic donation of 1 euro.
Exhibition “Lithuanians on the French Riviera: Photographs by Diplomat Antanas Liutkus, 1941–1953”
On November 16, in Villefranche-sur-Mer near Nice, France, the President Valdas Adamkus Library-Museum and Vytautas Magnus University Lithuanian Diaspora Institute will open an exhibition titled Lithuanians on the French Riviera: Photographs by Diplomat Antanas Liutkus, 1941–1953. The exhibition is part of Lithuania’s Cultural Season in France.
November 20 – International Scientific Conference “The Fates of Stutthof Exile Prisoners”
This conference will discuss the experiences of prisoners in Stutthof and other Nazi concentration camps during World War II, focusing on these experiences as a unique phenomenon of individual and collective memory, and relating them to diaspora and ethnicity studies.
November 21-22 – Lithuanian Diaspora Institute Documentary Film Days
These screenings will present documentaries created from the research and expeditions conducted by the Institute’s staff, depicting the lives of Lithuanians in various countries.
November 29 – Scientific Conference “Algirdas Landsbergis: Journey Between Two Worlds”
This conference, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Lithuanian diaspora writer and journalist Algirdas Landsbergis, will examine his creative works (fiction, drama, literary criticism), theater productions in the U.S. and Lithuania, and his social and cultural contributions.
December 10 – Traditional “Vytautas Kavolis Workshops”
The Lithuanian Diaspora Institute invites researchers, followers, and those interested in Kavolis’s ideas, to the traditional Vytautas Kavolis Workshops. This year’s theme will be The Fates of Left Sensitivity.
Events will take place at The Valdas Adamkus Presidential Library-Museum (S. Daukanto St. 25, Kaunas).
