On 26 November 2025, at the Valdas Adamkus Presidential Library-Museum, a screening was held of an interview with Vytautas Kavolis recorded in 1990 by A. Reneckis.
The interview, previously never shown publicly, was filmed in 1990 at V. Kavolis’ home in Carlisle, Pennsylvania (USA). The event was attended by the author of the recording—videographer and director Arvydas Reneckis—who also provided context about the interview.
In the conversation, V. Kavolis shares his insights on the Lithuanian diaspora and its relationship with Lithuania, reflects on living Lithuanian identity, the country’s history, and comments on the revival processes taking place at that time.
The screening of archival material is part of a project carried out by the Valdas Adamkus Presidential Library-Museum, the VMU Lithuanian Emigration Institute, videographer Arvydas Reneckis, and the VMU World Lithuanian University. The project involves digitising and making public the archival materials owned by A. Reneckis, which feature Lithuanian diaspora intellectuals. The project, titled “The Great ‘Bridge Builders’ of the Lithuanian Diaspora: Digitisation and Dissemination of A. Reneckis’ Video Recordings”, is funded by the Lithuanian Council for Culture and the Lithuanian Foundation.
