On January 12, 2026, a lecture on the search for historical memory took place at the Beatričė Kleizaitė-Vasaris Art Gallery in Marijampolė. Dr. Asta Petraitytė-Briedienė, a researcher and historian at the Vytautas Magnus University Lithuanian Emigration Institute, provided a comprehensive overview of the development of Lithuanian diplomacy in the 20th century and presented the contribution of the Lozoraitis family to the history of the state.
During the lecture, Petraitytė-Briedienė shared insights into how this family, working in Rome and Washington, managed to preserve the continuity of the Lithuanian diplomatic service when the state itself had been erased from the political map. The historian also highlighted the role of the Lozoraitis family in addressing the issue of Lithuania’s struggle for freedom in the West.
The lecture was attended by students from Marijampolė schools — the Sūduva, Marijonai, and Rygiškiai Jonas Gymnasiums, as well as Petro Arminas Progymnasium — along with history teachers and career specialists.
