On October 30, 2025, a discussion titled “Lithuanian Childhood in South America” took place at the Valdas Adamkus Presidential Library-Museum. The VMU World Lithuanian University, together with the Lithuanian Emigration Institute and the Valdas Adamkus Presidential Library-Museum, invited everyone to the closing event of “October – Month of the Lithuanian Diaspora.” It was a gathering with Lithuanians from various South American countries and a launch of the second issue of the World Lithuanian University magazine.

Participants sharing their memories of a Lithuanian childhood in South America included Alejandro Avalos Liesinskas and Aguanata Baronas from Venezuela, Aleksas Kulvietis from Colombia, Daina Juana Gariboldi from Argentina, Andre Zizas and Camila Bolano Amorim from Brazil, and Rimas Leonavičius from Uruguay.

The discussion was moderated by Dr. Giedrius Janauskas, a researcher at the Lithuanian Emigration Institute.

The event was held in Lithuanian, English, and Spanish.
