On October 1st, at The Valdas Adamkus Presidential Library-Museum, Laima Vincė book Vanished Lands: Memory and Postmemory in North American Lithuanian Diaspora Literature was presented. The book reflects years of research, with the author analyzing the works and memoirs of North American-born writers who write in English, focusing on themes of trauma, memory, and postmemory. The presentation was accompanied by Laima Vincė’s lecture titled “How Historical Trauma and Collective Memory Are Expressed as Post-Traumatic Narratives in the Works of Later Generations of Writers.” The event was moderated by Prof. Dr. Dalia Kuizinienė.
Laima Vincė is a scholar, translator, writer, artist, and creative writing instructor. She is currently a postdoctoral researcher at Vytautas Magnus University. She continues her research on memory and postmemory, is working on a new book, and writes articles. At present, Laima Vincė’s art exhibition Landscapes of Imagination is on display at The Valdas Adamkus Presidential Library-Museum.
