On July 7, 2024, The Valdas Adamkus Presidential Library-Museum hosted the opening of two exhibitions: the “Building Lithuania Together” exhibition commemorating the 70th anniversary of the Lithuanian American Community, and the “Landscapes of Imagination” art exhibition by Laima Vincė.
The event featured insights from Egidijus Aleksandravičius, director of the VMU Lithuanian Emigration Institute; Arvydas Urbonavičius, chairman of the Lithuanian American Community; Raminta Urbonavičius; Laima Vincė, the artist behind “Landscapes of Imagination”; and Lithuanian parliament members Vytautas Juozapaitis and Dalia Asanavičiūtė. The event was moderated by Arūnas Antanaitis, director of the Valdas Adamkus Presidential Library-Museum.
Lithuanian Americans have maintained strong ties with Lithuania and its ongoing developments. The “Building Lithuania Together” exhibition reflects the honorable history of the Lithuanian American Community and introduces the current activities of this organization that unite the diaspora in building a strong Lithuania. Laima Vincė art exhibition “Landscapes of Imagination” portrays the artist’s relationship with Lithuanian Americans and the spaces they inhabit, as well as her connection with Lithuania and her return to her homeland.
